What Is Gum Disease?
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is a chronic infection of the gums and bone surrounding your teeth. It usually starts with plaque buildup and inflamed gums (gingivitis) but can progress into deeper infection and inflammation, bone loss, and tooth mobility.
There are two major stages:

Gingivitis
Reversible gum inflammation caused by plaque buildup. Gums may bleed when brushing or flossing.

Periodontitis
An advanced stage where the infection damages bone and gum tissue around the teeth. Teeth may loosen or shift, and bone loss becomes permanent without treatment.

Our Gum Disease Treatments

approach to restoring your gum health.
We don’t just clean your teeth and send you home. We take a whole-mouth, long-term approach to restoring your gum health.
Depending on your needs, your treatment may include:
Deep Cleaning (Scaling & Root Planing)
Removes plaque, tartar, and bacteria beneath the gum line. Smooths root surfaces to promote healing and prevent reinfection.
Laser Therapy (LANAP® or LAPIP®)
Advanced laser techniques remove infected tissue, kill bacteria, and stimulate natural healing — often without cutting or stitches.
Antibiotic Therapy
Localized antibiotic gels or mouth rinses help kill bacteria in hard-to-reach areas and speed up healing.
Pocket Reduction Surgery
For advanced cases with gum pocketing, we may perform surgical procedures to access deep pockets, reshape the bone, or regenerate lost tissue.
